Investors' Meet for Cold Chain Development in Bangladesh

BOI, being the apex investment promotion and facilitation agency of Bangladesh, has been endeavoring to facilitate investors to the best of its ability through promoting investment opportunities and improving investment climate in the country. One of the key approaches is to organize targeted investment seminar and forum to showcase opportunities and share the latest reform initiatives undertaken by the Government to attract more investment in the country.

As a part of this initiative, BOI is organizing a day-long investors’ networking event on the ‘Investment Opportunities in the Cold Chain Sector in Bangladesh’ on January 28, 2015, at Dhaka, Bangladesh. International Finance Corporation (IFC), with assistance from Ernst & Young (EY) LLP, is supporting BOI in the initiative of agribusiness investment facilitation in Bangladesh.

The event will provide an effective platform for national and international investors for networking and strengthening investment interests.

The growth rate for the next five years of cold chain sector of Bangladesh is 6% and the current capacity of the existing 406 cold storages is 4.6 million tones. Also, 90% of these capacities is used for Potato and Potato Seeds storage. Specific investment opportunities exist in the following:

-          Multi – Commodity Cold Storages

-          Flex Cold Storages

-          Reefer Trucks
